About Society for the Study of Molluscan Diversity

History of the Society

Founded in 1988 as the Malacozoological Association of Yamaguchi.
Continued from 2009 as an international society, Society for the Study of Molluscan Diversity.

Aims and Scope

We promote research and education of science on molluscs and conservation of their diversity.

Activities

  • Annual meeting: We organize research presentations and the General Assembly.
  • Other meetings: We organize symposia, workshops or seminars in annual meetings or other occasions for research and educational interactions with a special emphasis on the encouragements of students and non-professionals in malacology through interactions with professional scientists.
  • Field surveys and trips: We organize field activities for observations and surveys in malacology.
  • Publication: We publish an international journal Molluscan Research with the Malacological Society of Australasia and a Japanese journal Molluscan Diversity.
